The ability of biomarkers to improve diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and reduce health-care costs is potentially greater than in any other areas of current medical research. Through its translational research strength and acquired expertise, R&D team has successfully standardized and implemented several new biomarkers for various diseases and disorders for first time in India. Major focus of research being molecular biomarkers for easing diagnostic process. Almost a decade back, SRL was the first laboratory to introduce the concept of Molecular Pathology in India. Over the years Molecular Pathology has grown by leaps and bounds with molecular diagnostic tools being used extensively in most of the disease areas. Today SRL leads the field of Molecular Pathology with intensified focus to expand the reach and popularity by creating awareness among medical fraternity. To further strengthen these activities, a membership position in the International Affairs Working Group of Association for Molecular Pathology, US has been achieved. Considering the thrust areas of research and SRL’s vision, R&D team is striving hard to continue its efforts for advancement of Molecular Pathology in India.
