What is fatigue?

The state of extreme tiredness due to either physical or mental disturbance can be termed as a fatigue. Under fatigue, a person hardly has any motivation or enthusiasm and feels sleepy all the time. It is to be noted that the feeling of tiredness and fatigueness is actually a symptom rather than a disease.

Fatigue is a major symptom of many medical issues that range from mild to severe. Some personal circumstances such as lack of discipline and poor diet are a natural result as well.

While fatigue can be observed every now and then, its root cause is very difficult to estimate. Thus, fatigue is categorised into two different types:

1.  Physical fatigue

Physical fatigue can result from certain factors like muscle weakness, where a person finds it difficult to do any physical labour. Generally, a fatigue strength test is considered as a diagnostic tool for such fatigues.

2. Mental fatigue

Lack of concentration is one of the prominent contributing reasons for mental fatigue in people.

Fatigue or Sleepiness?

It is myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) that commonly contributes to fatigue, a typical yet severe medical condition.

Sleepiness, on the other hand, results in lack of sleep in any person. Conditions such as sleep apnoea contributes to this ailment. Proper rest and regular sleep can prevent the condition of sleepiness or drowsiness.

What are the causes of any fatigue?
