Stomach pain is not something anyone wouldn’t have had in a lifetime. It can be as simple as temporary gastric symptoms, or as serious as a heart attack. Generally, pain in any area in the digestive tract, below the chest area, till the pelvis can be called as stomach pain by people. The most appropriate term here is abdominal pain. As the abdominal area contains many kinds of organs, medical practitioners divide them into 4 quadrants – left upper, left lower, right upper and right lower.

Dehydration, lack of dietary fibre, physical inactivity or any medical side effects can lead to constipation.

In this case, stomach pain occurs due to the body’s intolerance to certain types of foods, like the condition of lactose intolerance.

This infection can be caused in any part of the urinary system, the bladder, kidneys, or the urethra. Stomach pain is one of the symptoms.

Medically referred to as dysmenorrhea, women get these cramps during their menstrual period. They can vary from mild to severe, or constant to infrequent pain.
In the case of cancer of stomach, colon or other related organs, there are chances of stomach pain.
10. Pneumonia and Heart attack:
The chest pain in these conditions is sometimes spread in the surrounding areas. Hence, one can even feel stomach ache as a symptom of pneumonia or heart attack.
11. Aortic aneurysm:
It is where one aorta weakens and suffers from bulging, causing severe pain in the chest, back or stomach.
Appendicitis calls for a surgery when the appendix is blocked by faeces, some foreign object, or at times by tumour.
Home Remedies For Stomach Pain
There are several home remedies one can rely on. Listed here are a few:
- Avoid eating solid foods until you get better.
- Sip water in small intervals.
- If you’ve had loose motions or vomiting, eat, only if you are hungry. Stick to semi-liquids like rice ganji, thicker soups, apple sauce, etc. Hydrate with oral rehydration solution (ORS) to compensate for fluid and electrolyte loss.
- Avoid acidic foods, fruits, dairy foods, smoking, drinking, caffeine, etc.
